Whether it’s your first time working with a professional photographer or you’re just curious about what to expect, this guide has you covered.
Here’s what you need to know to nail your senior session from start to finish:

Before the Session: Prep Like a Pro

• Know Your Yearbook Deadlines
  If your school has a yearbook, find out when they need your photo. Knowing the deadline will help you plan ahead and avoid a last-minute scramble.
• Pick the Perfect Location
  Where do you feel most like yourself? Whether it’s a park, downtown, or your favorite hangout spot, the location should fit your personality and the story you want your photos to tell.
• Book Early
  Senior photographers fill up fast! Secure your spot a few months ahead of time to make sure you don’t miss out.
• Choose Your Outfit
  Your outfit should match the vibe of your location and showcase your personality. Keep it simple—your photos should be about you, not just your outfit. (P.S. Make sure it’s clean, pet-fur-free, and wrinkle-free!)
• Hair and Makeup? Done and Done!
  Whether you’re going glam or keeping it natural, plan your hair and makeup in advance. At Studio 21, we’ve got a pro HMU team ready to make you look your best. Share your vision with us early so we can bring it to life.

During the Session: It’s Your Time to Shine

• Set Aside Enough Time
  Most sessions take 1-2 hours, but give yourself 2-4 hours total to include prep time and outfit changes.
• Bring Your Wardrobe
  Pack your outfits on hangers to keep them looking sharp, and don’t forget to double-check for wrinkles or stray lint.
• Relax and Enjoy
  Meet your photographer at your chosen location, and let the fun begin! Feeling a little nervous? Don’t worry—we’ll make sure you feel at ease and capture the real you.
• Switch It Up
  Bring an extra outfit or two for variety. Some looks just pop in certain settings, so having options is always a win.
• Bring a Buddy (or Two)
  If having a friend or family member along helps you relax, bring them! Just keep the entourage small—they’re there to cheer you on, not steal the spotlight.
• Sign the Model Release
  Before you leave, you’ll sign a form allowing your photographer to use your amazing photos in their portfolio (because, trust me, you’re going to look THAT good).

After the Session: The Grand Reveal

• Your Ordering Session
  Once your images are ready, your photographer will invite you to a viewing session where you can order wall art, albums, and other custom goodies.
• The Waiting Game
  Great things take time! It usually takes 2-3 weeks to complete your images and products. Trust us, it’s worth the wait.
• Pick Up and Show Off
  When your stunning portraits are ready, swing by the studio to pick them up—and prepare for all the compliments!
