Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions, Gently Answered

1. Why would someone want photography at a funeral or celebration of life?

Grief clouds the memory. Legacy Lens preserves the love, the faces, the togetherness. Families often find comfort in seeing how deeply their loved one was cherished through the hugs, the tears, and even the moments of laughter that inevitably arise. These photos are a quiet tribute and an heirloom of remembrance.

2. Do you think this is a respectful approach? Will it feel intrusive?

Respect is at the heart of everything I do. I dress appropriately, move discreetly, and work closely with the family or funeral home to understand customs and preferences. My goal is to document without disruption—to be present, but never in the way.

3. What kinds of moments do you photograph?
  • Every service is unique, but I often capture:
  • The arrival of guests and family
  • Floral arrangements and keepsakes
  • The service space
  • Speakers and musicians (with permission)
  • Candid moments of connection between loved ones
  • Group portraits, if requested

4. How do I book Legacy Lens for a service?

You can contact me directly, or you can let your funeral director know you’re interested in Legacy Lens. I will coordinate with them to handle everything with care and ease. I understand timelines are tight I’m flexible and compassionate during this process.

5. How much does it cost?

Because every service is different in timing and scope, I offer flexible packages starting at an hourly rate. I also provide printing if you’d like to create a memorial album or keepsake prints. We’ll talk through everything after the service, so you can focus on your family first.

6. Can I see the photos before anyone else?

Yes. You’ll receive a private, online gallery. From there, you can download your favorites, share the link with others, or request prints directly from me. With your permission, we may ask to share a few images online so that other grieving families can see how thoughtfully and discreetly these moments are captured.
