There are moments in business where you realize you didn’t just build a company…
You built a life.
Thirteen years ago, I started this journey with a borrowed camera, determination, and a dream bigger than my resources at the time. Back then, I was painting my own backdrops by hand and photographing residents in nursing homes to practice my portrait and headshot work.
And my “studio”?
It was my 900-square-foot basement… which I lovingly referred to as the “lower level” to class it up a bit.
I didn’t have a glamorous studio. I didn’t have a massive following.
What I did have was passion and a deep love for people.
I practiced relentlessly. I learned through trial and error. I said yes to opportunities. I showed up over and over again.
In 2013, what started as a photobooth business slowly evolved into something so much bigger than I ever imagined.
Over the years, Studio 21 became more than a photography business. It became:

• a creative space
• a storytelling space
• a community space
• a place where people could feel seen, celebrated, empowered, and remembered

I’ve photographed seniors before graduation, professionals building brands, families preserving legacies, businesses growing their presence, and moments people never want to forget.
Along the way, I’ve been blessed with incredible clients, lifelong friendships, community support, published work, speaking opportunities, mentoring opportunities, and recognition I never could have imagined when I first started.
But the truth is…
The most meaningful part has never been the awards or recognition.
It’s been the people.
The conversations. The trust. The stories. The moments when someone leaves my studio standing a little taller than when they walked in.
That’s what has kept me going for 13 years.
And now, sitting inside this downtown studio I once only dreamed about… it feels surreal.
Every inch of Studio 21 tells part of the story:

• the murals
• the vintage pieces
• the lighting
• the artwork
• the creativity
• the imperfections
• the growth

All of it represents a girl who simply refused to quit.
To every single client, supporter, mentor, friend, organization, student, and family member who has supported me over these last 13 years…

And honestly?
I feel like I’m just getting started.
